SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Capt. Jared Hendler, Minnesota Army National Guard is shown with his supervisor, Lindsey Hofer, after the presentation of an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.

Hendler is a Battery Commander with the 1-125 Field Artillery Regiment located in Pipestone, Minnesota and is employed by Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) as a training coordinator. The award was given on Aug. 2 during an all-staff retreat in Victoria, Minnesota attended by over 60 staff.

In the nomination, Hendler wrote that his supervisor and the entire MACV team “has his back” while on military leave allowing him to focus on the mission. He added that their support has made the transition back to work seamless. Hendler has been in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 14 years. The mission of MACV is to end veteran homelessness in Minnesota. Also present for the presentation was John Kingrey, an ESGR Minnesota Committee member. An ESGR Statement of Support was signed after the Patriot Award presentation.

ESGR is a Department of Defense office which seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
