ESGR in the News

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Army National Guard Warrant Office 1 Patrick Kooiker is presenting the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award to his supervisor, Senior Director Infrastructure Services, Robert Kehr.

The award was given recently at the corporate office of Securian Financial Group, Inc. in recognition of Kehr for continually going above and beyond in his support of Kooiker’s military obligations and service to the Minnesota National Guard.

Kooiker could not express how great his appreciation was for this support and how those throughout Securian Financial supported and assisted him and his family as he was gone for an extended time attending Warrant officer school. Kooiker added how his specialized training greatly benefits his civilian duties as he has been able to apply this knowledge as the Information Security Director. This is Kehr’s second Patriot Award, and they honored him during the presentation with a personized ammo box. The presentation was attended by a large audience, and many were also members of the guard and reserve or have previously served.

Present was Dr. Everett Doolittle an ESGR Ombudsman/Minnesota Committee member. ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers. This year, ESGR celebrates 51 years of excellence in support of the Reserve Components and their civilian employers.
