ESGR in the News

WHEELING, W.Va. – West Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee hosted a Black Hawk helicopter bosslift June 22.

ESGR hosted a Black Hawk helicopter bosslift event for fourteen employers.  The employers were welcomed by the ESGR volunteers and presented with an ESGR brief.  They were given a tour of Army Aviation Support Facility #2 and hangar facilities and then received a pre-flight brief before wheels up. The employers loved the adventure they were given in the air with the flight crew and their knowledge of the aircraft and its capabilities.  Brian Shaw, ESGR Program Coordinator stated, “This gives the employer an opportunity to see what the mission is, outside of the workplace.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense office, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing an outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR’s mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective, and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
