SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Mike Rahm, CEO of Monaco Enterprises, was presented with a Patriot Award by Jim Wynee, east area chair for the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Rahm was nominated by Washington Air National Guardsman Chief Master Sgt. Bill Mader, systems support group manager at Monaco Enterprises. "As a veteran himself, Mike understands the commitment to service our military members are passionate about,” said Mader. “He also understands that this commitment to serve requires extra time away from work to fulfill military duties. As a Senior Leader in my organization, it is often necessary to spend a preparation day at the unit prior to drill weekend. Mike has generously approved these additional days away from work allowing me to better prepare and lead in my unit.”

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Wynne. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

“We appreciate the time and effort to recognize our team; and it is a team - there is no way we could accomplish what we do without great people like Bill,” said Rahm. “We're not a large employer but definitely take a ton of pride in the opportunity we have to partner with our customer base, which is nearly entirely composed of Department of Defense installations. And, because we're in the fire life safety industry, we take pride in saying, "We protect those who protect us!"

“National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units,” said Wynne. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”

“We also consider ourselves lucky to be able to tap into the incredible resource that is the Guard and Reserve workforce,” said Rahm. “We just don't as readily find the same type and caliber of individuals in other areas. It's a wonderful opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with such outstanding individuals…The experience we've had with Guard and Reserve folks on the Monaco team has consistently been outstanding.”

ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws.
