ESGR in the News

HONOLULU – Supervisory Customs and Border Protection Officer Kevin Yamamoto of the Customs and Border Protection, Honolulu International Airport, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for the extraordinary support he provides his employee Master Sgt. Crisanto Vida of the United States Air Force Reserve.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.

National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units. By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.

“Yamamoto kept me up to date with bidding of work schedule making sure I am fairly able to bid according to my seniority. Yamamoto also administratively arranged a language Aptitude Test that qualified me for annual salary increase of 3% while on active duty. Yamamoto’s actions display strong support and high respect for the military,” expressed Master Sgt. Vida.

As part of the presentation, Port Director George Minamishin signed an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement of Support.
