YPSILANTI, Mich. –Postmaster Carlos Jackson and Supervisor Markel Wells of the United States Postal Service received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently.

Jackson and Wells were nominated by Sgt. Evan Wight of the Army National Guard who stated, “I was activated on Covid support orders during the winter of 2021-2022. As the 48197-area code supervisor, Markel worked tirelessly to ensure my route was covered and customers were well taken care of during the hectic winter delivery months. Upon my return to work, Markel was supportive of my transition back to work, allowing me time to reacclimate and reorder my route after nearly 6 months away.”

Wight went on to say, “When my Unit was called to active-duty service shortly after my return to work, Markel was understanding of the need, and allotted extra time away from work prior to my departure to spend with family. I greatly appreciate his support and ongoing efforts to maintain my postal route and my position with the United States Post Office in my absence.”

About Postmaster Jackson he said, “As the Postmaster of the Ypsilanti Office where I work, Carlos was highly supportive when my Unit was called to active-duty service in June of 2022. I greatly appreciate his support of my Service and ongoing efforts to maintain my route and position with the United States Post Office while I’m away on deployment.”

Thank you to Postmaster Jackson and Supervisor Wells for supporting this Service Member.
