FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced that State Chair Marty Kuhar and State Chair Emeritus/Military Outreach Director Wes Craig received a mission update from The Adjutant General (TAG) Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler and his staff.
Kuhar and Craig received briefing about the strength, mission capabilities, and future deployments of Pennsylvania National Guard forces. These annual briefings are extremely important to the active mission of ESGR’s Military Outreach volunteer team. Knowing units requiring extended training at the National Training Center, military schools, or scheduled for deployments enables Craig to focus volunteer outreach to those unit personnel.
Volunteer Military Outreach volunteers are assigned to specific units and schedule training events at convenient times convenient to unit Commanders. Service members receive pre and post deployment Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) briefings. They are also briefed on the importance of using the ESGR awards program so they can recognize their employers support provided to them and their families.
ESGR, a Department of Defense office, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective, and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
