SEATTLE – Doug Weber, northwest area manager at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was presented with a Patriot Award, by Dan McManus, employer outreach coordinator at the Washington Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Weber was nominated by Washington Army National Guardsman Capt. Ryan Alarcon.  “Doug does an amazing broadening mentorship for military officers,” said Alarcon. “He deploys and mentors army officers to support emergency response.” 

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said McManus. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense.”

“Through his mentorship, I was not only able to sustain my military capability and deployment skills, but I was able to broaden my capacity to handle other federal missions beyond military operations,” explained Alarcon.

“It is wonderful to be recognized by Ryan, ESGR, and my teammates,” said Weber.

ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws.
