AITKIN, Minn. – Staff Sgt. Chia Hsueh of the Minnesota Army National Guard nominated his employment supervisor, Laura Schlagel, for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.
The award was presented Nov. 29 at the Aitkin Bremer Bank branch in recognition of Laura Schlagel’s support of her employee's service to the Minnesota National Guard. Hsueh was very appreciative of Laura’s support and assistance with his service and wanted to honor her. Laura also signed an ESGR Statement of Support, which demonstrated her company's commitment to assist its Guard and Reserve employees. Also present was Chad Sackett, an ESGR Minnesota Committee member, who presented the award. Hsueh was unable to attend as he is currently serving on military duty.
ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
