Minneapolis Minnesota: On November 11, 2022, Lt. Addison Scufsa of the Army Reserve presented the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) Patriot Award to Andrea Bongard his supervisor at Medtronic. Lt. Scufsa stated, he greatly appreciated her support and assistance for she has gone above and beyond as it can be very difficult meeting the many demands of serving and balancing those of employment. This award was part of Medtronic’s annual Veterans Day celebration and proudly displayed in a place of honor was their ESGR “Freedom Award”. Also displayed was a special table with a chair leaning against it honoring those who are missing in action Also, present was ESGR Dr. Everett Doolittle who presented the award along with Lt. Scufsa and veterans from many branches of the service.
ESGR is a Department of Defense office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers. This year, ESGR celebrates 50 years of excellence in support of the Reserve Components and their civilian employers.
