ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

 

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

August 28, 2014August 26th was Military Appreciation Day at the Minnesota State Fair

COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. - The 4th annual Military Appreciation Day at the Minnesota State Fair was held Aug. 26. Not only was there a good showing by Minnesota Guard and Reserve Units and those who support them, Minnesotans showed up in record numbers: 133,595 individuals came through the turnstiles on Tuesday. Minnesota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and Hero2Hired were well represented with volunteer members and staff.

August 28, 2014Monteen receives high honor from the Office of the Secretary of Defense

COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. – A. Paul Monteen, Chair of Minnesota Employer Support for the Guard (ESGR) and Reserve, received The Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service Aug. 22.  The medal was presented by Paul Mock, National Chair, Headquarters ESGR and M. Alex Baird, Principal Deputy Director, Family and Employer Programs and Policy of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs.
