ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

Augusta, Maine – Maine Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) office, announced that Governor Paul LePage and Joyce Oreskovich, Director of Maine Bureau of Human Resources, signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve June 17 at Augusta Maine State Armory in front of more than 25 employers, 20 military service providers and nearly 50 service members looking for employment at the 1st Annual Government Job and Resource Fair in Maine. The Army Reserve, Navy Reserve and Marine Corps Reserve announced this week a decrease in activated reservists, while the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve announced an increase of National Guard members and activated reservists. The Coast Guard Reserve announced no change in the number of activated reservists. The net collective result is 63 more activated National Guard members and reservists in comparison to last week. WASHINGTON –­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, has selected three employers from Maine as semifinalists for the 2014 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.  The final list of employers was selected from 2,864 nominations nationally.
