ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

September 11, 2014Jamestown-Valley City employers fly with the Guard

JAMESTOWN-VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Nine employers from Jamestown and Valley City were provided a unique opportunity to visit Camp Grafton, near Devils Lake, Aug. 21. David Rickford and Rod Olin, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve volunteers, supported all coordination at the local level. Camp Grafton is a National Guard Maneuver Training Center (CGTC) which trains Soldiers from all 50 states and 4 territories and the only one of its kind. The CGTC consists of three major units; the 164th Regional Training Institute (RTI); the 136th Combat Service Support (CSS) Battalion; and the 3662nd General Support Maintenance Company (GSMC).

September 09, 2014Briefing with Bosslift held at Camp Grafton for Jamestown and Valley City employers

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – North Dakota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Chair (ESGR) announced it hosted a “Bosslift” for Jamestown and Valley City employers. Participants boarded Black Hawk helicopters from Jamestown and Valley City to and from Camp Grafton, located vicinity Devils Lake, ND. They toured the Regional Training Center, Combined Support Maintenance Service and obstacles at the Maneuver Over Urban Terrain (MOUT) site. A meal was provided at the dining facility. All participants were instructed and allowed to use weapons at the Engagement Simulation Center (EST). Weapons included current Army rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers and anti-tank weapons.
