ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

September 03, 2014National Guard (In Federal Status) and Reserve activated as of August 26, 2014

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard announced this week a decrease in activated National Guard members and reservists, while the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, and the Coast Guard Reserve announced an increase of activated reservists. The net collective result is a decrease of 53 activated National Guard members and reservists in comparison to last week.

August 29, 2014Fargo employers fly with the Guard
FARGO, N.D. – Nine employers from Fargo were provided a unique opportunity to visit Camp Grafton, near Devils Lake, July 10. Departing aboard a Fargo-based Blackhawk helicopter, they made the 45-minute flight to the Camp to tour the Regional Training Institute (RTI). The event was hosted by the Fargo Region, North Dakota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) as a method of informing employers of the skills, training, and leadership that members of the National Guard bring to the civilian workplace.
