GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Todd Parr, West Nebraska Claims Service supervisor, was presented with a Patriot Award Aug. 10, by Joe Cook, a Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve area chair and volunteer, in recognition of extraordinary support of his employee serving in the Guard and Reserve.

He was nominated for being highly supportive of the Army National Guard by his Reserve Component employee, Spc. Chris Sheen.

Sheen stated Parr assisted him by obtaining extra help to get caught up on storm claims and giving him flexibility to prepare for his upcoming annual training period. He additionally stated it was a great effort by Parr and the staff pulling together to assist him.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Cook in his presentation. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Todd Parr and West Nebraska Claims Service with this award.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
