Internal Revenue Service supervisor receives Patriot Award

FRESNO, Calif. – Kevin Hill, a supervisor at the Internal Revenue Service was presented with a Patriot Award June 30 by Jack Davidson, a volunteer for the California Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of extraordinary support of their employee.

Hill was nominated for being highly supportive of the California Army National Guard, Sgt. DeAndre Carraway his Reserve Component employee.

“My Supervisor is always understanding when I need time off of work to deal with military issues.  This includes time while not on duty or on orders.  He encourages me and helps me with not only things that will help me in my job, but also things that I can bring back to my soldiers as a leader as well”, said Carraway.

The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.

“Supportive employers, like Supervisor Kevin Hill, are vital to the success of our mission and the defense of this nation,” said James Combs, California ESGR state chair. “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employer supports them 100 percent.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
