NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve State Chair Carl E. Lambert, age 71, died June 4.  He is preceded in death by parents Leslie and Sibble Lambert and sister Anna Sue Mead.

He is survived by loving wife Merletta Lambert, son and daughter in law Carl K. and Rebecca Lambert, grandchildren Terry Ashton (Anna) Lambert, Taylor Allyson Johnson, Carly Gray Lambert and Jenna Addyson Lambert, great grandson Knox Ashton Lambert, sister Geneva Whitney, and brothers Eugene, Thomas, and Randall Lambert.

Carl served in the United States Army, Army National Guard, and the United States Army Reserve for 30 years, and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.

Carl also served as the Senior Administrative Executive for the 640th U.S. Army Reserve Area Support Group whose subordinate commands were located in seven states. During the Global War of Terrorism, he was responsible for readying more than 4,000 US Army Reservists and their deployment to serve worldwide. He retired from his civilian position with the military in 2006.

Immediately he became active in ESGR and was a staunch advocate for guardsmen, reservists, and their families. He began as a volunteer and spent several years as the Middle Tennessee Chair for ESGR. For the past six years, he served as Tennessee’s State Chairman for ESGR and was extremely active on several committees at the national level.

Celebration of life was held on June 9 at River of Life Church with Dr. Johnny Minick officiating. Interment was held on June 12 at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with full military honors, with Marvin Wells, Joe Thomas, Joe Henry, Ken Tarkington, George Page, and Jim Munganest serving as pallbearers. Robert W. Hays, Tom Wells, Norman (Buck) Grantham, and James (Bones) Becker serving as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
