OMAHA, Neb. – Assistant Director for Protection Management and Military Liaison Sue Wimmer was presented with a Patriot Award Feb. 16 by Lou Wagner, Area Chair and volunteer, Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of her extraordinary support of Union Pacific employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
Wimmer was nominated for being extremely supportive of the Minnesota Army National Guard by Reserve Component employee, Staff Sgt. Matthew Grubb.
Grubb noted in his nomination she had helped him computing his differential pay and assisting his wife with benefits questions. He further stated she keeps in regular contact with him while he’s deployed and appreciates her ongoing support and help.
“Due to her position, Sue has received numerous Patriot Awards from Union Pacific employees across the nation, which is testimony of her dedication and support,” said Wagner during his presentation comments.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Paul Cohen, Nebraska ESGR state chair. “Supportive personnel such as Sue Wimmer are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
