Dixon, CA - On Tuesday morning, September 25th, 2012, the entire Greiner Heating & Air team in Dixon warmly welcomed back service technician Derek Miller. After 8 months of “boots on the ground” in Afghanistan, he has finally returned.
The Greiner staff of 30 employees greeted Derek with warm embraces, high-fives, and a lot of laughter and happiness. Following a warm welcome by all, this special day started with a company-wide meeting which included a breakfast prepared by the owners and served to all employees and special guests from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). During the breakfast, new employees were introduced who joined the team during Derek’s absence. Patty Greiner closed the breakfast by reading a poetic tribute to Derek where she shared her personal thoughts and admiration for his courage to serve our country. Each word touched upon his true patriotism and heroism and resonated for every single month he spent in Afghanistan protecting our freedom. Following breakfast, Derek was surprised with the presentation of a new service van, complete with his name on the door making his return to Greiner complete.
Derek is excited and eager to get back to work providing superior customer service and motivated by the support from his friends & co-workers. California ESGR AST Tammy Cameron welcomed Derek back and presented Patty Greiner with the ESGR flag, acknowledging Greiner for their support of mobilized employees. Closing out the event, the entire group gathered outside under the flag pole where Dennis Logan, Install Manager and 20-year Greiner employee, prayed for the safe return of Bobby Castillo, fellow Greiner Technician who remains behind, deployed in Afghanistan until November.
