ARLINGTON, Va. –­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced 30 employers as finalists for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The Freedom Award is the DoD’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.  A review board comprised of military and civilian leaders selected the top 30 employers from a pool of 2,899 nominations submitted earlier this year by National Guard and Reserve Service members.

St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, was presented the Tennessee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Committee's highest award, the Pro Patria Award on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. The hospital and staff were recognized for their outstanding support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve, as well as all veterans. Dr. Williams Evans, Hospital Chief Executive Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the hospital leadership.

Memphis, TN Mayor A.C. Wharton, Jr was presented the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve 
Pro Patria Award for outstanding support of employees of the Waste Water Treatment Plant who serve in the Guard and Reserve. This award is the result of a recommendation by Command Master Chief William McRae, US Navy Reserve, who is also a Plant Manager for the Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Hammond, Louisiana – The Louisiana Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that Matthew Saacks and Lee Lowe of Amperical Solutions, were honored with a Patriot Award in recognition for extraordinary support of employees who serve in the Louisiana National Guard and Reserve Forces. A Statement of Support Certificate was also signed by Matthew Saacks, President of Ampirical Solutions, to provide a visible reminder of the Company Support of our troops. Along with the thanks of the committee, “My Boss is a Patriot” pins were also presented.
