ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and Service members.

ESGR informs and educates Service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

September 03, 2014National Guard (In Federal Status) and Reserve activated as of August 26, 2014

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard announced this week a decrease in activated National Guard members and reservists, while the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, and the Coast Guard Reserve announced an increase of activated reservists. The net collective result is a decrease of 53 activated National Guard members and reservists in comparison to last week.

August 16, 2014CVS Caremark supervisors honored by Department of Defense for patriotic support

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriotic Employer Awards were presented to Supervisor Carisa Jeter, and Human Resources Supervisor Tami Pase CVS Caremark, Knoxville July 29. They were nominated by their employee Spc. Natasha Pass, a member of the 844th Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, Knoxville.  Pass expressed her appreciation for the support shown by her supervisors during the time she performs her military duty.  CVS Caremark is a CVS call center located in Knoxville, TN.

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. – Randy Woods, a supervisor at the Clayton Homes plant in Maynardville, was presented the Patriotic Employer Award by Tennessee Employer Support Guard and Reserve (ESGR) representative Gary Ellis.
