ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and Service members.

ESGR informs and educates Service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

April 08, 2015National Guard (In Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of March 31, 2015
The Department of Defense announced an increase in activated National Guard and reserve component members this week for the Marine Corps Reserve, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, while the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and Navy Reserve announced a decrease of activated members. Coast Guard Reserve numbers did not change from last week. The net collective result is a decrease of 87 activated National Guard and reserve component members in comparison to last week. Learn More.
March 17, 2015Tennessee ESGR committee conducts 2015 annual plans and awards meeting

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) conducted its 2015 Annual Plans and Awards Meeting (APAM) at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Franklin. Training ranged from volunteer refresher training, to social media awareness training, but with special emphasis on Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) training at the volunteer level.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, or ESGR, presented the Above and Beyond Award to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for supporting their employee Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jess Ehrenfeld during his current tour as the Anesthesiology Department Head for the Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Afghanistan.
