ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and Service members.

ESGR informs and educates Service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

WASHINGTON –­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee as a finalist for the 2014 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The award is the DoD’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of National Guard and Reserve employees. The top 30 employers were selected from a pool of 2,864 nominations submitted earlier this year by National Guard and Reserve service members.

April 01, 2014The Hilton Worldwide Roosevelt New Orleans Hotel, signs a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve

New Orleans, La. – Larry Jones, Area Chair, Louisiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced that Hilton Worldwide Roosevelt New Orleans Hotel signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve April 1. The signing ceremony occurred at the historic Hilton Worldwide Roosevelt New Orleans Hotel followed by a career fair for Veterans at the hotel. All of this is part of the Hilton Worldwide chain having previously pledged to hire 10,000 Guardsmen, Reservists, Veterans, and Spouses. In addition to the Statement of Support, Tod Chambers, general manager at the Roosevelt Hotel also received the “My Boss is a Patriot” pin, and the thanks of the Committee for the continued support of the Guard and Reserve.
