ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and Service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

April 03, 2014Noah’s Ark Christian Child Care Center director honored with Patriot Award

Waynesboro, Pa. –It’s not every day that you get to recognize an employer that goes beyond the call of duty for their employees but, on April 2 that is exactly what took place.  Senior Airman Crystal Gross nominated her civilian employer, Jamie Pearson, for the “Patriotic Employer” award. Jamie Pearson is the director of Noah’s Ark Christian Child Care Center in Waynesboro. Pearson understands that Crystal teaches full time at Noah’s Ark Christian Child Care Center, but also serves in the Air National Guard, which can take her away from her teaching duties at the Center. Gross, who will be deployed overseas for up to a year, wanted to show her appreciation to her employer.  The Patriot Award presentation was made by James E. Astor, South-Central area representative for the Pennsylvania Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
