North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve(NCESGR) is a Department of Defense office led and operated by dedicated volunteers and staff whose mission is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve Service Members by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the Uniformed Services Employment Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), resolving conflicts through mediation and developing initiatives to increase employment opportunities for military service members, veterans and families. The field committee is made up of over 100 dedicated volunteers reaching out to employers and military service members through multi-functional areas such as Employer and Military Outreach, Public Affairs, Ombudsman, Training, and Employment Initiatives.

February 21, 2017Supervisor with the North Carolina School for the Deaf honored by Department of the Defense

MORGANTON, N.C. – North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced Steve Watts, a supervisor with the North Carolina School of the Deaf was honored Feb. 17 with the Patriot Award for his support Staff Sgt. Edmund Long, U.S. Army Reserve. The ceremony was hosted by ESGR volunteer, Forrest Fleming.

MORGANTON, N.C. – Dr. Audrey Garvin, director of the North Carolina School of the Deaf was honored Feb. 17 with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for her support Staff Sgt. Edmund Long, U.S. Army Reserve. The ceremony was hosted by ESGR volunteer, Forrest Fleming and held on Chapel Day with the entire student body and school staffs present.
