ESGR, a Department of Defense office, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

MIAMI – T.J. Maxx District Manager Michele Tague was a recipient of the ESGR Patriot Award at a ceremony held at one of the store locations in Miami March 8. The award was presented to Tague by Florida ESGR Area Vice-Chair Tom Green.

WASHINGTON (March 13) – Employers that support their military employees’ service make all the difference in the world.  That support can include paying an employee the difference between their military and civilian pay during a deployment, or even offering a full salary for the duration.  It can also be arranging for a US senator to be on hand for a farewell ceremony.  Some companies show their commitment by targeting military for hiring, while others set up military affinity groups to learn how to better serve their military employees.  Still others pitch in and simply make life easier for the families of deployed service members. November 02, 2016University of Miami nursing supervisor receives Department of Defense Patriot Award

MIAMI – Alina Riesgo, nursing supervisor at the University of Miami Mailman Center, Department of Pediatrics, was presented with a Patriot Award April 29 by Michael Mills, area chair for the Florida Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, in recognition of extraordinary support of her Guard and Reserve employees.
